PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a layout symmetry constraint verification method and apparatus that efficiently verify with a layout symmetry constraint. PSOLUTION: Input layout data are verified with a layout symmetry constraint by a first verification step of verifying, among others, whether a symmetric element pair match in shape, a second verification step of verifying whether a relative positional relation between the elements conforms to the layout symmetry constraint, and a third verification step of graphically verifying whether the placement of the elements satisfies the layout symmetry constraint.
