PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a new breed, capable of improving the breed for producing an excellent seedling for culturing a cockle. PSOLUTION: This method for producing a new breed of the cockle is provided by mating a yellow shell color cockle individual lineage obtained by a sib-mating of the yellow individuals, with a brown shell color cockle individual lineage obtained by the self-fertilization of the usual brown individuals. By using at or after the second generation of the sib-mating of the yellow colored individuals as the yellow shell color individual lineage, and at or after the second generation of the self-fertilization of the brown colored individuals as the brown shell colored individual lineage, the further stabilized improvement of the breed becomes possible.
