The present invention relates to a method for improving plant productivity and, in particular, crop yields by introducing an endophytic microorganism into the object plant. More particularly, the present invention is directed to a method for improving cereal crop productivity by introducing an endophytic actinomycete into the subject crop. The method of the present invention facilitates improved crop productivity, such as increased germination, by providing, inter alia, the object plant with the ability to control diseases and to over-regulate plant growth promoting activities.
