A NOVEL DESIGN FOR CONSTRUCTION OF OVERBRIDGES ON HIGHWAYS FOR REDUCING COST.

Cities are becoming congested. The state governments are required to construct flyovers to reduce the traffic congestion and increase the speed of vehicles. Maharashtra state government has spent 1700 crores of rupees to construct 52 flyovers in Mumbai city alone to carry the heavy traffic above the rest. This leads to construction of overbridges which would be suitable to carry heaviest of the vehicles which may be carrying as much as 28 T containers. These bridges are a big drain on resources and need to be paid by the public at large. In the present invention it is proposed that the primary traffic be given the status of VIP and not be raised from its normal level. The secondary traffic comprising small vehicles, school buses and the like can be allowed to cross or join the main traffic through smaller ovebridges.
