PROCEDURE FOR ASSEMBLY AT HIGH TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTING COMPONENTS IN A SUPERCONDUCTOR CABLE WITH A DEGRADATION OF NEGLIGIBLE CRITICAL CURRENT AND ARTICLES MANUFACTURED THROUGH SUCH PROCEDURE.
PROCEDURE FOR ASSEMBLY AT HIGH TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTING COMPONENTS IN A SUPERCONDUCTOR CABLE WITH A DEGRADATION OF NEGLIGIBLE CRITICAL CURRENT AND ARTICLES MANUFACTURED THROUGH SUCH PROCEDURE.
Superconducting cable (31), comprising: (a) a core element (36); and (b) a first high temperature superconducting wire (34, 38) helically wound around the core element (36), where the first high temperature superconducting wire (34, 48) comprises (i) a first high superconducting component temperature (12) having a first end (12a) and a second end; (ii) a layer of a first welding material (16), a portion of the welding layer (16) fixed to at least a portion of the first end (12a) of the first high temperature superconducting component (12); and (iii) a second high temperature superconducting component (14) having a first end (14a) and a second end, at least a portion of the first end (14a) of the second high temperature superconducting component (14) fixed to a portion of the welding layer (16), in which the portion of the first high temperature superconducting component (12) fixed to the welding material (16) and the portion of the second high temperature superconducting component (14) fixed to the material welding (16) form an overlap segment (15); wherein the shape of the first end (12a, 14a) is adapted to minimize the stress concentration of said wire (34, 48), and in which a section of the first superconducting wire (34, 48) having a length of at least 100 times the length of the overlap segment has a critical current of at least 80% of the lower critical currents of the first and second high temperature superconducting components (12, 14), where the critical current is determined using a criterion of 1 microV / cm.
