The method involves guiding or regulating clutches using an electronic controller, which receives sensor signals. Difference between actual acceleration and reference acceleration of a railcar is determined. A peak program is changed into standard switch program, if the difference exceeds a pre-determined value. The railcar`s engine torque is controlled as a function of the gearbox oil temperature.
