Determination of lipoprotein classes (I) in body fluids comprises: - (a) analyzing NMR spectra of a plasma or serum sample and measuring under different measuring conditions; and - (b) determining the different effects of these measuring conditions on the intensity and line forms of the NMR signals (A) of the individual (I); where a density and/or size distribution is assigned to the individual (I) on the basis of the different effects on (A). - Process for the determination of lipoprotein classes (I) in body fluids comprises; - (a) analyzing NMR spectra of a plasma or serum sample and measuring under different measuring conditions (different magnetic field gradients and varying temperatures); and - (b) determining the different effects of these measuring conditions on the intensity and line forms of the NMR signals (A) of the individual (I); where a density and/or size distribution is assigned to the individual (I) on the basis of the different effects on (A). - Independent claims are also included for: - (1) an apparatus for the analysis of (I) in body fluids comprising a first device for detecting NMR reference data sets for each lipoprotein class with the corresponding reference parameters as a function of different measuring conditions (different magnetic field gradients or varying temperatures), a second device for detecting the NMR spectra of a plasma or serum sample to be analyzed under different measuring conditions as in the first device, a third device for determining the concentrations and the density and/or size distributions for each lipoprotein class on the basis of an approximation of calculated NMR spectra to the NMR spectra to be analyzed and detected in the second device by weighting with the reference parameters determined with the first device; and - (2) a process for the determination of the concentrations of (I) and subclasses in a body fluid to be analyzed, where characteristic reference parameters of an NMR spectrum for each lipoprotein class and subclass to be analyzed are determined and calculated NMR spectra are fitted to the measured NMR spectra of the plasma or serum sample to be analyzed by means of a weighting of these reference parameters using weighting factors, the concentrations of (I) and lipoprotein subclasses are determined using the weighting factors.
