Measurement circuit (1) for measuring an electrical variable (E) has: a transducer circuit (2), which displaces the electrical value by an offset amount so that it lies within a predefined value range, in order to provide a measurement value; a zero point detection circuit (3) and; an evaluation circuit (5) for evaluation of the measurement values dependent on the measurement value at the last detected zero point. An independent claim is made for a method for generating a measurement value for a measured electrical variable, whose value alternates about zero, i.e. has positive and negative values.
