A textile stitch-bonding machine has a lay-up assembly for a layer of thread, a thread transport assembly, a link station to stabilise the thread layer, and thread anchorage elements. The anchorage elements are so located that they form a contoured profile on the web. Also claimed is a commensurate stitch-bonding machine with transport elements either side of the link station. Lever arms are located at right angles to the link stations.
