The system has a photodiode (2) arranged in a headlight of a motor vehicle for sensing the brake light of an ahead-driving vehicle (1) and transmitting a signal to an evaluation unit (3). The unit analyzes the signal after an emergency braking. A warning unit and/or a brake unit are activated when a simple danger braking is identified by the unit. A preliminary accident-intervention takes place during a strong danger braking. The photodiode is designed also for light function of the headlight.
