The knife blade has a cutting edge (13) whereby the material displacement takes place perpendicular to the level (16) of the base (5) and the material accumulation (17) takes place along the free end surface (18) parallel to the level of the base. The free end surface along with the chamfer (12) forms the cutting edge and extends continuously over length (3) of the base. An independent claim is also included for the method of manufacture of the knife blade.
