The method for the removing of combustion residues (1) from a wall (2) of a chamber (3) carrying combustion gases, or a component (31) located in the chamber, involves the contacting of the combustion residues with a first cleaning medium (4), and the contacting of the pre-treated combustion residues with a second cleaning medium, whereby the first and second cleaning mediums differ at least with regard to the physical condition. The first cleaning medium is in liquid form, and the second cleaning medium in vaporous form. Independent claims are included for the following: (A) a device for the removing of combustion residues from a wall of a chamber carrying combustion gases with means for the distribution of a cleaning medium in liquid form and for the distribution of a cleaning medium in vaporous form, whereby these at least partially have overlapping effective areas (8,9); and (B) a steam generator including the aforesaid device.
