The method involves an acceleration sensor (19) which is attached to microcomputer wheel slide control electronics (8). The acceleration values are read in time period pattern by microcomputer electronics and acceleration of wheel axles (3) in non-slip condition is computed. The value is compared with measured acceleration values of acceleration sensor and correction factor is then determined. The measured acceleration values are corrected and actual vehicle speed is computed. An independent claim is also included for the device for determining actual driving speed of rail-mounted vehicle.
