The method involves controlling actuators in a hydraulic control device when an engine is stopped such that a secured combination of actuated units is provided corresponding to clutch logic of a gear when the engine is restarted. The engine is set in a transmission selector lever position, at which the engine is set in an engine-start-automatic mode, when the engine is restarted and after applying a sufficient pressure at the gear.
