The method involves carrying out a logical access together with a physical access during accessing unstructured or semi-structured digital data. A common access mechanism is implemented for both the logical and physical access modes and is transparent. A path specification is processed within the implementation of the common access mechanism and is upgraded at a query-interface. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a device for processing an unstructured or semi-structured digital data in a file system (B) a computer program product for executing a method for processing an unstructured or semi-structured digital data in a file system.
