The profile, to seal joints in concrete structures, is a hollow tube filled with a material which swells in water. The tube, of a modified collagen, is permeable to water and is expanded by inner pressure and it can burst. The filling is a sheet silicate containing sodium or calcium bentonite with a slow swelling action when the tube is immersed in water.
