A floating cell/tissue carrier system with a floating ring (2) enclosing cell or tissue carriers (5) with a growth area (8) on the surface of (5), in which there is at least one opening between (5) and (2) through which an exchange of liquid culture medium (6) can take place between area (8) and the area outside or surrounding (2). A floating cell and/or tissue carrier system with an annular buoyant or floating body (2) and with cell and/or tissue carrier(s) (5) in an area enclosed by (2) and forming a growth area (8) on the surface of (5) within that enclosure. In this system, there is at least one opening between (5) and (2) through which an exchange of liquid culture medium (6) can take place between area (8) and the area outside or surrounding (2). An independent claim is also included for a perfusion tank or container with a casing (11, 12) containing a perfusion chamber (13) with inlet and outlet connections (17, 18) for a culture medium (6) at the bottom of (13) (forming a liquid space (13.2)) and other connections (15, 16) for feeding air and/or other gases into a gas space (13.1) above the liquid space (13.2) in (13), in which the chamber (13) contains a floating carrier system (1a) as above.
