The device has air flow meters (112, 114) which is used for measuring respective air flow rates with a set of air filters (104, 106). An electronic control unit (ECU) (200) estimates whether any air filter is blocked or not, on the basis of a difference of the measured air flow rates. Blocking of the air filter, occurs when the difference of the measured air flow rates reaches a given rate.
