Continuous transesterification of a dimethyl- or diethylterephthalate comprises transesterification a mixture of the dimethyl- or diethylterephthalate with an ethandiol, propandiol or butandiol in presence of a transesterification catalyst in a transesterification reactor, where the mixtures are entered in the reactor through reaction canals or tubes (5), and removing a transesterification products from the reactor. An independent claim is included for a cascade reactor (1) comprising an inlet for supplying the mixture, a steam outlet (3) at the head of the reactor, and an inlet (2) for collecting transesterification product at the soil of the reactor, where the reactor shows several floors lying above one another circular or stretched, floor manner connected canals or reaction tubes.
