Liquid crystal projection system has three reflective-type liquid crystal panels for modulating single and dual primary color lights

The system has a half wavelength retardation plate (34) between the dichroic mirror (24) and reflecting prism (25), to change the polarization state of light beam from the mirror. A modulator (29) has reflective-type liquid crystal panel (30) beside the polarizing beam splitter (27), and reflection-type liquid crystal panels (31,32) at either sides of dichroic prism (28) for modulating the single and dual primary color lights.
