The method involves feeding a digital random signal with a preset variance into a digital phase locked loop. A signal of the loop is cross-correlated with the fed random signal to provide a cross correlation function. An impulse response between the fed random signal and the signal of the loop is estimated by the cross correlation function and the preset variance of the random signal to adjust a transfer function of the loop. An independent claim is also included for a device for stabilization of a transfer function of a digital phase locked loop.
