The method involves determining dimensions of a garage and position of a vehicle in the garage using front and rear distance sensors (4, 5) and ultrasound lateral distance sensors (8, 9). A trajectory of the vehicle is defined using a calculation unit (12) of an operating unit (10) for terminating the maneuvering of the garage. Optical and/or acoustic indications are provided to a driver for following the defined trajectory. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle equipped with components for implementing a garage maneuvering assisting method.
