Charge (A) of pyrolyzing material is moved from reactor (1) to pre-heating chamber. Charge (B) of to-be-pyrolyzed material is placed in chamber for pre-heating by heat exchange with charge (A). Charge (C) of pyrolyzing material placed in reactor is moved to chamber, after charge (A) removal. Charge (D) of material to be pyrolyzed is placed in chamber by heat exchange with charge (C). Pyrolyzed charges are removed from chamber for replacement by pyrolyzed charges from oven. Pre-heated charges are moved from chamber to reactor for replacement by charges (B,D). A charge (A) of material for pyrolyzing is placed in a reactor (1) for preset time. Another charge (B) of material to be pyrolyzed is prepared. Charge (A) is placed in pre-heating chamber upon termination of preset time. Charge (B) is placed into chamber for pre-heating by heat exchange with charge (A). Another charge (C) of material for pyrolyzing is placed into reactor for preset time. Another charge (D) of material to be pyrolyzed is prepared. Charge (A) is removed from chamber. Charge (C) is moved from reactor into chamber. Charge (B) is placed into reactor for preset time. Charge (D) is placed into chamber by heat exchange with charge (C). Pyrolyzed charges are sequentially removed from chamber for replacement by pyrolyzed charges from oven. Pre-heated charges are moved from chamber to reactor for replacement by charges of material to be pyrolyzed. Thus, pyrolyzing in heated reactor material containing at least one of carbon and other pollutant is enabled. An independent claim is included for apparatus for pyrolytic decomposition of carboniferous material.
