Tissue preparation container (2) for use in embedding of tissue samples comprises a base body (4) with a cylindrical side wall (5) and floor on which a number of divider plates are mounted that divide the container into compartments. The side wall has a large number of axial slit-type openings (12) that extend over the whole height (68) of the side wall. An independent claim is made for a device for tissue preparation with a transport plate on which a large number of transport containers can be attached. The tissue preparation containers are mounted around a central pole that passes though their central opening (40). The whole assembly of pole, containers and carrying element from a transport container which is mounted in the tissue preparation device on the transport plate.
