A data reader (6) and its holder (5) are on a base board (3). Marked (2) double pages from a magazine issue (1) are presented. On opening the page, the page number in the marking is registered. This, and also the date and time are stored in a memory unit fastened to the base board. Small cards marked to identify users are fastened to the base board under the reader. Rechargeable batteries may be used to supply power.
