The display has highlighting units (7) to visually highlight discrete points on a display surface (3e) provided on a substrate to display the time. A controller controls the highlighting units based on the time. The units are switched between two of digital time representation, a linear-analog time representation or continuous-analog time representation modes. A combination of crystals, rhinestones and LEDs are provided on the display. An independent claim is also included for a utilization of an analog/digital display for learning and teaching non-numerical symbols.
