The device uses a dovetailed adapter plate (26) which is fixed on a sporting device whilst an associated dovetailed connecting plate (12) is fitted with the optical line of sight (54) . The adapter plate and connecting plate are both substantially square. One or more intermediate plates (18) can be used to change the height of the line of sight. Independent claim describes adapter plate with several spaced bores on its flat side.
