A telescoping rod (D) with a maximum height of not higher than 4 meters is attached with a triangular pennant at the upper end. The pennant is formed of retro-reflecting, fine-mesh net material with shape memory properties. In operation, the telescoping rod is extended to its full height by a burl chain (A) in response to e.g. push-button activation of an airbag. A light source (B) e.g. a light emitting diode (LED), lights up the entirety of the rod length as well as the pennant.
