The gas spring has concentric inner (13) and outer (7) tubes. A piston (10) is mounted in the inner tube. The gas spring is fitted with a temperature compensating system. This comprises an annular piston (8) surrounding the inner tube which compresses a spiral spring (6) when the temperature between the tubes rises. A radial gas channel (15) connects the space between the tubes and the interior of the inner tube and acts as a filling choke channel.
