The seat base (2) has a cushion comprising a foam block, and lateral edges (10) delimiting between them a central cavity of the base. Lateral edges of the cushion are detachably fixed on the corresponding edges (10). The cavity permits the cushion to be subsided in the cavity under the weight of a passenger and to be adapted to his morphology. The base is made of single piece seamless steel. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle seat comprising a base.
