Nitrogen oxide accumulator catalyst regeneration triggering method for internal combustion engine, involves combining partial decision values to obtain decision value, and triggering catalyst regeneration by comparing value with threshold
The method involves determining a load of a nitrogen oxide accumulator catalyst (30). Two partial decision values are formed based on the load in nitrogen oxide of the catalyst and operation parameters of an internal combustion engine (10), respectively. The two values are combined to obtain a decision value. Regeneration of the catalyst is triggered based on the result of comparison of the decision value with a threshold. An independent claim is also included for a control apparatus of triggering the regeneration of a nitrogen oxide accumulator catalyst in an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine.
