The engine has a combustion chamber extending along a main axis, and fuel injector (6) disposed between two intake valves (1, 2) of same side of a radial plane of the chamber. A fuel injector (7) is arranged on a cylinder head (10) so as to form a triangle with the injector (6) and a spark plug (5) when the chamber is viewed along main axis. The injector (7) is placed between two exhaust valves (3, 4).
