PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant woody substance which is simple in work concerning formation and can easily obtain enough flame retardance, a method for producing the flame-retardant woody substance, and synthetic wood.;SOLUTION: Since a woody material into which sodium borate and/or boric acid are introduced is powdered matter of a 10-500 mesh particle size, the surface area is enlarged to increase the proportion of sodium borate and/or boric acid introduced into the woody material.
