PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine for a small planing boat and the small planing boat, capable of shortening piping between a supercharger and an intercooler and thus suppressing increase in ambient temperature inside an engine room. PSOLUTION: In this engine 40 for the small planing boat, an axial longitudinal direction of a crankshaft 47 is arranged along the longitudinal direction of the small planing boat. The supercharger 42 and the intercooler 43 are mounted to the engine 40. The supercharger 42 is arranged one of right and left sides of the engine 40, sandwiching the crankshaft 47, and the intercooler 43 is arranged at least in either one side of front, rear, upper or lower sides of the engine 40.
