PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify and track memory usage for minimizing power consumption while reducing adverse effect of throttling or a low-power mode for solving a problem of a conventional technology. PSOLUTION: This method, device and system are disclosed for redistributing memory allocation to insufficiently used portions of a dynamic random access memory (DRAM) device and a dual in-line memory module (DIMM) device in order to balance memory usage more evenly amongst active devices so as to limit the amount of power and the thermal load consumed by an individual memory component. The disclosed method, apparatus and system are capable of identifying and tracking memory usage to minimize power consumption in a way that lessens the detrimental effects of "throttling" or the low-power modes for the memory devices.
