PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stable μ-oxo-aluminum phthalocyanine dimer having a new crystal transformation, having good electric characteristics such as good chargeability, small dark attenuation and small residual electric potential, and useful as an electric charge-generating agent for electrophotography. ;SOLUTION: This dimer exhibits diffraction peaks at Bragg angles (2θ±0.2°) of 6.9°, 8.7°, 13.8°, 15.4°, 23.9° and 25.9° in an X-ray diffraction spectrum using CuK α-ray. The objective dimer is preferably obtained by producing μ-oxo- aluminum phthalocyanine dimer, grinding the obtained dimer in a dry state, and further dispersing the ground product in an organic solvent in a wet state or simply dispersing the ground product. The dimer is preferably obtained e.g. through a process for reacting phthalocyanine, etc., in the presence of aluminum trichloride in a high boiling point organic solvent.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
