PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter arrangement and a power converter method of the multiplexing three-phase circuit pulse width modulation cyclo-converter system for driving a high-voltage AC motor which generates high voltage of low distortion by using low-voltage inverter technology.;SOLUTION: The serial multiplexing three-phase circuit PWM (pulse width modulation) cyclo-converter arrangement is operated, by using a serial multiplexing three-phase circuit pulse width modulation cyclo-converter constituted by connecting in series single-phase output pulse width modulation cyclo-converters (1 to 9); to short-circuit between single-phase AC terminals of the cyclo-converter at failure, in case any of the cyclo-converters fails; to conduct successively by an equal time interval three sets of double-throw switches consisting of each of the two double-throw switches connected by each phase of three-phase power input terminals (r, s, t) related to the other two-phase cyclo-converter located at the same position in series connection with the failed cyclo-converter.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
