PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a centering construction and a centering method for respective lock member in attaching each lock member to the stile of respective inner door and outer door of a sliding door assembly. ;SOLUTION: A centering construction for lock members of this sliding door unit comprises an outer lock member 2 having a small reference hole 9 for centering in a strike plate 4 and being fixed to an outer stile in advance and an inner lock member 22 which is fixed to an inner stile 21 in opposite to an outer lock member 2 and has a centering hole 40 in a front panel 23 of a lock box 24. In this case, a supporting plate 25 is located in a lock box of an inner lock member 22, and it is attached in a horizontally movable manner relative to a small reference hole for centering, and also a centering linkage rod 27 urged in the direction of an inserting hole 48 for screwdriver formed to a vertical wall portion 46 of a lock box with a spring member 26 is provided.
