An artificial disk device to replace a damaged core is exposed. In one form, the device may be inserted into components such that the device may be mounted within and retained by the natural circular crown therein. In an additional form, the device may be provided with a releasable connection such that the device may be connected in an insert configuration and may be released in an operable configuration.
