The present Invention relates to the use of vinpocetine and Derivatives thereof that can develop and maintain the same effects for the treatment of Epilepsy and its Complications.Our results show that vinpocetine Inhibits all alterations in the waves of the ratc accompanying epileptic cortical activity during ictal and post ictal periods in two Experimental models of Epilepsy in vivoVinpocetine Inhibits also the marked loss of Hearing and the characteristic changes in the EEG seizure Inducing two agents who differ in their mechanisms of Action. These findings indicate that the ability of vinpocetine as antiepileptic Drug is not accompanied by effective Cough Side.
