A scopine ester compound of formula (II), wherein R denotes a group selected from C1-C4-alkyl and C1-C4-alkylene-phenyl which may be substituted in each case by hydroxy or C1-C4-alkoxy, optionally in the form of an acid addition salt thereof as well as optionally in the form of a hydrate thereof, when used as a starting material for preparing tiotropium bromide, ipratropium bromide or BEA2108 is disclosed.
