Method for sterilizing or disinfecting ducts that carry a fluid to handpieces (1) that are part of a dental team that comprises a water line (2) that supplies a fluid from a main water source (3) through corresponding branches (2s, 2a, 2b, 2c) and which for each handpiece (1) is provided with interception means (4); the method including at least the following operational stages: removal of at least the final portions of the feed branches (2s, 2a, 2b, 2c) from their respective resting positions and placing them within a container (5); introduction of a disinfectant / sterilizing liquid in each of the water lines (2) for a predetermined period of time; drainage of the disinfectant / sterilizing liquid from the water lines (2) through the handpieces (1); the method being characterized by the fact that the draining stage of the disinfectant / sterilizing liquid is carried out by washing the water lines (2) with a sterile fluid that is supplied through a second branch (7) independent of the main source of water (3).
