The present invention provides an artificialdura mater characterized by comprising at least a sheet ofa biodegradable and bioabsorbable synthetic polymer andhaving a storage modulus at ordinary temperature of from 1x 10 7 to 5 x 10 8 (Pa); and a process for producing anartificial dura mater characterized by dissolving alactide/ .epsilon.-caprolactone copolymer (in a molar ratioranging from 40/60 to 60/40) in a solvent, filtering theresultant solution and casting the same followed by airdrying.
