METHOD OF DETECTING CHAOTIC STRUCTURE IN A GIVEN MEDIUM

It is of the type consisting in:calculating the components of the light intensitygradient vector E at every point of a window F,centered on a point of a block representative of themedium, and it is characterized in that it furthermoreconsists in summing elementary matrices M for all thepoints of the window F, diagonalizing said sum matrix Aso as to determine its eigenvalues .lambda.1, .lambda.2, .lambda.3,quantifying, at the center of the window, the minimumof the said eigenvalues .lambda.1, .lambda.2, .lambda.3, and with theconstraint U T × D = 1, eliminating the contribution ofthe largest eigenvalue, defining a multidirectionalerror by integrating it in the plane defined by theeigenvectors corresponding to the remainingeigenvalues, assigning the multidirectional error tothe image point on which the window F is centered, andcalculating the multidirectional errors assigned to allthe image points of the image block.
