This invention is a method for non-invasive measuring the concentration of ananalyte, particularly blood analyte in blood. Themethod utilizes spectrographic techniques (30) in conjunction with an improvedoptical interface between a sensor probe (11), and a skinsurface (12) or tissue surface of the body containing the blood to beanalyzed. An index matching medium (22) is disclosed to improvethe interface between the sensor probe, and the skin surface duringspectrographic analysis. In a preferred embodiment, the blood analyteconcentration in blood is quantified utilizing a partial squares analysisrelative to a model incorporating analysis of plural known bloodsamples.
