An aerated treatment of water is performed in an activated sludge membrane bio-reactor with a flotation part (3) for flotation of part of or all the activated sludge in the water being led to the membrane filters (5) , so that there is a reduced concentration of activated sludge or no sludge at all in the water being passed to the filters (5) .
