A method for auto-discovering the control entity topology in the automatic switched optical network, firstly, adds the control entity object and CtrlEntityDM message used for the adjacent discovery and maintenance of the control entity into the LMP protocol set, the said message contains node object and control entity object of the LMP protocol; during the discovering of the adjacent relationship, each control entity informs the LMP protocol set of each corresponding PC that the CtrlEntityDM message should be constructed in IP packet form and be multicast; after each PC receives the CtrlEntityDM message, it informs the local control entity to update the topology resource information of the local controlling plane according to the adjacent control entity in the said message; if there is a control entity which can not receive the CtrlEntityAM message of the adjacent control entity in the preset time, then notifies the OSPF protocol set of the local PC that the said adjacent control entity was dead, the set updates the topology resource information of the local controlling plane and floods the control entity adjacent state in the network while the topology is changing.
