Disclosed are: a phosphatase involved in the regulation of the differentiation of a cardiomyocyte; a dominant inhibitory enzyme for the phosphatase; a gene encoding each of the enzyme proteins; and use of the gene. A protein comprising an amino acid sequence selected from the following sequences (A) to (C) or the like is used: (A) the amino acid sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:2; (B) an amino acid sequence having the deletion, substitution or addition of one or several amino acid residues except a cysteine residue at the 138th position in the amino acid sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:2, which is characterized in that a protein having the amino acid sequence has a dual-specific phosphatase activity; and (C) an amino acid sequence having at least 60% homology to the amino acid sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:2 and having a cysteine residue at the 138th position in the amino acid sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:2, which is characterized in that a protein having the amino acid sequence has a dual-specific phosphatase activity.
