A method and an apparatus for operating a network application according to a power management mode of a communication device are provided to prevent IP collision due to a UPnP apparatus operating in a power save mode, by managing state information of all UPnP apparatus accurately in one integrated network. In a method for relaying a message in an integrated network composed of at least two sub networks, information about a power mode of a communication apparatus is received from the communication apparatus connected to a first network. A message indicating a power mode of the communication apparatus is generated based on the content of the information. The generated message is transmitted to a second network, so that communication apparatuses connected to the second network recognize the power mode of the communication apparatuses.
