A DNA marker is provided to be utilized for Korean cattle breeding improvement so as to accurately select sire having excellent weight increase amount and growth rate at an early stage, thereby capable of improving the selection efficiency and increasing the genetic improvement. The DNA marker involving with the growth rate and weight increase improvement of Korean cattle comprises a DNA sequence in 5'-flanking region of a Korean cattle insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1) gene described as SEQ ID : NO. 1, and is characterized in that it is a single nucleotide polymorphism where a T base located at 221th of the IGF-1 gene is substituted by a C base.
